Special drop items are exempt from loot scaling.

How can you actually make 500k? I was farming whole weekend, and won't earn even close to that(150~), you'd had to farm 3 stacks of both to earn that much.

Ok, 500k was maybe a little high..... but few hundred k would have been possible. 150-200 event items per hour + many dyes and golds = 20-35k per hour.
500k was just a guess.... I only farmed 20 mins over the weekend (got 7 golds, 1 white dye and ~50 event-items).... but I see quite many who made 200-300k

I duo farmed the first 2 groups at the secret lair of the snowmen most of the time last weekend. I calculated the drop rate an hour when I solo farm there and it's remarkably less than a duo farm in my case. My buddy needed ale and I wanted the clovers, so all turned out well and we had fun.

45 seconds? You can barely run from the port to the cave in 45 seconds. Maybe it's those new "metric seconds"

Clovers are garbabe why even "farm" them. They don't even have the same value as green candycanes. Some pct from 5 to 15 suks. You're better off farming the newbieland just outside of Kamadan for all this time and collect juvinile termite legs and sentient roots and save them up for next wintersday and turn those in for green candycanes. I scored over 1800 of them for last wintersday which is 600 green candycanes btw and I haven't hardly used any anyways. Not to mention you can play that newbie zone just outside of Kamadan in hard mode and get all kinds of great drops/gold. I found an r7 +11 offhand illusion just recently while farming there. Sure it's not perfect, but, r7 and only -1 energy I'll take that any day over r9 and have 29 attribute points to put into something else.

4-leaf clovers can also add points to the lucky title track. It's not the most efficient way to add points, but what do you care?

let me rephrase that.
"don't believe everything you read here."
I played a total of 16 hours during the weekend and I got 28 clover and 22 ale. Most of them came from pre-searing
I think most of those who earned much from this especial drop are the ones who were spamming "WTB Clover for 100g" and then spam again "WTS Stack of Clover for 65k"

Clovers are party wide unlike wintergreen candycanes. With an average of 10% dp reduction party wide, that makes them similar to an elixir of valor or two rainbow candycanes. They're MUCH MORE valuable than wintergreen candycanes. Please learn to read before you start calling things "garbage".

Well, yeah, if you don't dedicatedly farm for them, your not gonna get many for the time you spend. I a little over 800 each of both clovers and ales spending some of my free time this weekend killing raptors, but that's cause its fast and efficient. If you look at it number-wise, I'm killing over 30 enemies, which we'll just call 30 for easy calculation, every 1 and a half minutes. As far as holiday items go, that means that I'll be getting about the same number of holiday drops per minute and a half as someone playing in an eight-person team gets after killing 240 enemies, which, generally, is going to take a fair bit longer than a minute and a half. Therefore, if you're not one- or two-person farming for them, you just aren't going to get nearly as many as those who do.

3 stacks was easy. I made almost 4 stacks of each over the weekend, and I didn't even go all-out (took plenty of time out for RL, did Urgoz and some dungeons with my guild).
It's just a question of how long can you can spend on it, and how long you can stand the mind-numbing tediousness of farming. I want alcohol for my drunkard title, and the clovers are like mini-powerstones - very useful. But I'm not rich enough to buy a lot of alcohol or powerstones, so my resistance to tedium is high when those things are free for the taking...
I didn't farm them for profit - I'll be keeping them all for myself to use. The alcohol will go quickly, and the clovers are hopefully a year's supply, cos we won't be seeing them drop again for a year.

Loot scaling sucks. I vanquished around Rata Sum (3 times) for 3 blue, 8 clovers and 9 ales and only a dozen white crap. No golds what so ever. In the end I just did it for Asura rep points.
Remind me how do we get better drops again?
I hope to have better luck with bunnies & eggs... Sure can't get any worse for craps sake.
